Members of the Philippine Business for the Environment (PBE) expressed interest in the Measuring Impact Framework and Social Return of Investment (SROI). This was taken from a quick survey of 14 PBE members that attended a World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and PBE forum entitled, “Sustainability Solutions and Tools for Business.”
The forum, held at the Business Solutions Center of Meralco on Nov. 27, 2012 presented an overview of standard tools developed by WBCSD. These are the Global Water Tool, the Eco-efficiency Learning Module, Business Ecosystems Training (BET), Measuring Impact Framework Methodology, and Measuring Impact: Beyond the Bottom Line. SROI was also introduced.
The lecturers were Mr. Filippo Veglio, Director of WBCSD’s Development Focus Area (DFA) program, and Ms. Kitrhona Cerri, Program Manager of the same program. The DFA program addresses the role of business in driving greater social inclusion and sustainable development in emerging markets. As they only presented overviews, they requested the participants to communicate with them or with the PBE secretariat for further details on the tools that they would like to use or learn more in detail.
Among the tools presented, Measuring Impact and SROI were the tools that the participants would like to use in their respective companies and the ones that they would like for PBE to prioritize for 2013. The two tools would come in handy in measuring the impacts of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The participants would also like to ask PBE’s assistance on these topics mostly in the form of further trainings and hands-on consultations.
